Uwharrie Charter Academy extended their home winning streak to five games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Lainey Thomas. The Eagles blew past the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves 62-41 on Tuesday thanks in part to Thomas, who posted 12 points along with five assists and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Cedar Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Finnegan, who put up six points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedi Fearrington, who had eight points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Uwharrie Charter Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Cedar Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Uwharrie Charter Academy has already played their next contest, a 60-27 victory against Union Academy on the 19th. As for Cedar Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-33 defeat against Northern Durham on the 20th.
