Volleyball Preview: Maryville Red Rebels vs. Science Hill Hilltoppers

The Maryville Red Rebels will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Science Hill Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Maryville is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since September 26th on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Clinton as Maryville made off with a 3-0 victory.

Maryville never let Clinton on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Science Hill had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Tennessee on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Hilltoppers sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Science Hill got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 30-28, 23-25, 25-19.

Science Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Campbell Hixson led the charge by getting 23 digs. Hixson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Bragg, who had 20 digs.

Maryville is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-16 record this season. As for Science Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 36-5.
