Volleyball Recap: Utica Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Utica lost against Port Huron Northern back in August and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Chieftains fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Utica sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-18, 13-25, 25-11.

Kylee Backus paced Utica's offense, picking up five kills. Backus got some help from Rachel Rettell and her seven assists. Rettell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Utica's loss dropped their record down to 10-16-1. As for Port Huron Northern, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-6-1.

Looking ahead, Utica will head out on the road to challenge Grosse Pointe North at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Port Huron Northern, they will welcome Port Huron at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
