Volleyball Recap: Father McGivney Catholic Find Success

Father McGivney Catholic posted their closest win since April 12th on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past First Baptist Academy 2-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Griffins also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Father McGivney Catholic had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-21, 25-21.

Aidan Deist paced Father McGivney Catholic's offense, picking up three kills. Deist got some help from Dax Lieberman and his ten assists.

The win made it two in a row for Father McGivney Catholic and bumps their season record up to 10-14. As for First Baptist Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Father McGivney Catholic will head out on the road to challenge Alton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. First Baptist Academy has already played their next match (against Metro-East Lutheran), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
