Baseball Recap: Como Park Comes Up Short

Como Park extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Paul Central Minutemen. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to the Minutemen when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Como Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vance Ethen, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for St. Paul Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.

On St. Paul Central's side, Sam Henrickson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Tyler Mortellaro was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

While Como Park had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
