Recap: McCool Junction Mustangs vs. Cross County Cougars
The McCool Junction Mustangs had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 44-37 victory over Cross County. For McCool Junction, this counts as revenge for the 57-47 loss Cross County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.
McCool Junction's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from McKenna Yates, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Briann Stutzman, who scored 11 points.
McCool Junction has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Cross County, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-2.
McCool Junction will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against East Butler at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Cross County, they will be playing at home against Nebraska Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Nebraska Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Monday.
