Basketball Recap: Hammon Gets the Win

Hammon hadn't done well against Merritt recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hammon Warriors pulled ahead with a 44-43 photo finish over the Merritt Oilers. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 51-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hammon pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Merritt, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-3.

Hammon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-51 win against Lomega on the 1st. As for Merritt, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mangum at 6:30 p.m.
