Baseball Recap: Vacaville Comes Up Short

Vacaville extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 16-11 in the process. They lost 13-3 to the Rodriguez Mustangs. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this game were averaging 3.96 runs allowed.

Dom Yacovetti made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Mac Niven, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Rodriguez, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Rodriguez's side, they got a great performance from Nick Schikore as he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Schikore has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Beasley, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Sean O'Connell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Vacaville has already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against Fairfield on the 30th. As for Rodriguez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-6 win against Oakland Tech on the 25th.
