Baseball Game Preview: Evergreen Park Mustangs vs. Oak Lawn Spartans

Evergreen Park is 2-8 against Oak Lawn since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Evergreen Park will host Oak Lawn at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Evergreen Park has seven straight wins, Oak Lawn has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, Evergreen Park made easy work of Amundsen and carried off a 12-2 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Carlos Flores made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Flores was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Rowan Smyth was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Noah Munoz, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Oak Lawn's offense. They came up short against Hoover on Friday, falling 11-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

Evergreen Park pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Lawn, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
