Recap: Knoxville Central vs. Summit
Summit was averaging 30.79 points per game entering their game on Friday, but they just couldn't find their rhythm against Knoxville Central. Summit ended up on the wrong side of a painful 30-7 walloping at Knoxville Central's hands. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Knoxville Central can attribute much of their success to senior Dakota Fawver, who passed for 217 yards and two TDs. senior Jason Merritts also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
The Bobcats' defense was a presence as well, and it made life painful for the quarterback and the Spartans' offensive line for a total of 5.5 sacks. It was a group effort with four picking up 1.5 sacks apiece.
The loss dropped the Spartans' record to 12-3. The win was the fifth in a row for the Bobcats and raised their record to 13-2. With that, the Division 5A playoffs come to an end.
