Softball Recap: Valley Central's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Valley Central dropped their record down to 6-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Minisink Valley Warriors by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 two weeks ago.

Eleanor O'Neill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Ferraro, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Minisink Valley, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Minisink Valley's side, Emily Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. Smith has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Minisink Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiera Barry, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Coincidentally, Valley Central and Minisink Valley will both be playing Goshen Central the next time they take the field. The Vikings will head out to face the Gladiators at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Warriors will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
