Preview: Howard Wildcats vs. Cane Bay Cobras
The Howard Wildcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Cane Bay Cobras at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Howard entered their tilt with Newark with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Howard simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Newark 87-33 on the road.
Meanwhile, Cane Bay waltzed into their match Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Hanahan 61-43. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Cane Bay did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cane Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaac Smalls, who scored 15 points along with five steals. The matchup was Smalls' third in a row with at least ten points. Curtrell Dixon was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight steals.
Howard pushed their record up to 3-0 with that win, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Cane Bay, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
