Football Recap: Smithfield Comes Up Short

After soaring to 32 points the game before, Smithfield was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They received a blow as they fell 21-6 to the North Smithfield Northmen. The Sentinels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Northmen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Smithfield's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2. As for North Smithfield, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Smithfield will challenge rival Juanita Sanchez Complex at 12:00 p.m. on the 18th. Meanwhile, North Smithfield is set to square off against their familiar foe Narragansett at 3:00 p.m. on the 18th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Northmen 11, the Mariners 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
