The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Paraclete (Lancaster, Calif.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Spirits defeated Kilpatrick (Malibu, Calif.) 62-0.
After taking the lead on a
Tylan McBride touchdown run in the first quarter, the Spirits led 42-0 at the half.
Paraclete expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. PHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Franky Ramirez.
Even though the Lancaster school led by 49 points entering the fourth quarter, it poured the points on, scoring 13 in the fourth.
The Spirits' most effective player was
Antoyne Hutcherson. The senior ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
Paraclete entered the contest giving up 22.0 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Mustangs well below their season average of 12.3 points scored per game.
A 63-16 Paraclete victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
In a Alpha game next week Paraclete (5-1) takes on Viewpoint, and Kilpatrick (1-4) will go up against Santa Clarita Christian in a non-conference game.
