Football Recap: Tohopekaliga Piles Up the Points Against the Master's Academy

Tohopekaliga's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past The Master's Academy Eagles 42-8. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Tohopekaliga was led to victory by Xaevez Brown and Sabby Meassick. Brown gained 251 total yards and four touchdowns, while Meassick threw for 361 yards and five TDs. Meassick is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least 300 passing yards the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). A healthy portion of Meassick's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to Tayshaun Dillard, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Tohopekaliga proved: they limited The Master's Academy to a paltry -0.5 yards per carry. Tohopekaliga's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.98 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.63 on average over their last five games.

Tohopekaliga's defense also made the game a nightmare for Ashton Bosco, racking up nine sacks. Carrillo-Handal led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13.

Tohopekaliga now has a winning record of 4-3. As for The Master's Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Tohopekaliga will venture away from home to challenge St. Cloud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for The Master's Academy, they will head out to square off against Seffner Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
