Football Recap: Hernando Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hernando had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Dunnellon Tigers 14-12. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Tigers are ranked 98th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win was the third in a row for Hernando, bringing their record up to 13-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games. As for Dunnellon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Hernando will square off against New Smyrna Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Leopards 10.4, the Barracudas 5.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Dunnellon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
