Softball Recap: Provo Takes a Loss

Provo had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-12 to make it four. They lost 22-6 to the Timpanogos Timberwolves. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Timberwolves this season, with their most recent loss being a 18-2 defeat back in March.

Tava'Esina Albert and Lily Rock did some serious damage despite the final result: Albert went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Rock went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That triple was Albert's first of the season. Josie Castellanos was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Timpanogos, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7. The result was nothing new for the Timberwolves, who have now won nine matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

On Timpanogos' side, the team relied heavily on Kale'a Nakayama, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits Nakayama has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Izzy Marroquin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

Provo has already played their next game, a 14-4 victory against American Leadership Academy on the 17th. As for Timpanogos, they will venture away from home to challenge Uintah at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Timberwolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Utes have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season.
