Baseball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Cadets vs. Vianney Golden Griffins

Christian Brothers and Vianney are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cadets are taking a road trip to square off against the Golden Griffins at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Christian Brothers barely beat Parkway South the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cadets put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 18-5 win on Saturday. The Cadets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Braden Schreimann, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kale Price, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Christian Brothers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkway South only posted an OBP of .286.

Meanwhile, Vianney strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Hickman. The Golden Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by nine runs or more this season.

Christian Brothers' victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Vianney, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.

Christian Brothers skirted past Vianney 6-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
