Valley View extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8-1 in the process. They lost 16-4 to the Bellbrook Golden Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Spartans have suffered since March 24th.
Valley View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Coleman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Coleman's first of the season. Another was Lily Bell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Bellbrook, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-8. Considering they have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Bellbrook's side, Abigail Hebrank (2028) made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Hebrank (2028) was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cheyenne Duhl (2025) was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last 12 contests. Heidi Pummell (2027) was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley View will welcome Oakwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lumberjacks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bellbrook, they will take on Ross at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Eagles 3.8, the Rams 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
