Softball Game Preview: Padua Academy vs. Sussex Tech Ravens

Padua Academy will take on the Sussex Tech Ravens at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Sussex Tech took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Padua Academy, who comes in off a win.

Padua Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on St. Georges Tech with a sharp 17-3 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Padua Academy needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Sussex Tech faced Polytech in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Ravens fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-5. The Ravens haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Mariah McCabe and Kathryn Calloway did some serious damage despite the final result: McCabe went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Calloway went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleandra Bennett, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Padua Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sussex Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.
