Baseball Recap: Havelock Comes Up Short

The matchup between Havelock and New Bern on Tuesday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Havelock Rams lost 18-7 to the New Bern Bears. The Rams just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Brayden Leverett and Ryan Ventry stepped up to the plate in a big way. Leverett scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Ventry scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Leverett a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Chase Champion, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Havelock's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for New Bern, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Havelock will square off against South Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for New Bern, they will face off against Croatan at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
