Recap: Washington Jaguars vs. Polytech Panthers
This season hasn't been kind to the Washington Jaguars, who are still winless after their fifth game. They fell 48-40 to Polytech on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 234th in Maryland, while Polytech is ranked 49th in Delaware).
Despite the loss, Washington saw an underclassman step up: Elijah Thomas scored 22 points. Jalen Wigfall was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Washington's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Polytech, their victory bumped their record up to 1-4.
Washington will finish 2023 at home by hosting Milford at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Polytech and North Caroline will round out the year against one another at 11:45 a.m. on Friday at.
