Basketball Recap: Burke Takes a Loss

Burke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Millard North Mustangs and fell 65-37. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 14th).

Despite the loss, Burke still got an impressive performance from Michael White, who posted nine points and three blocks. Temo Bechaz also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

It was another big night for Derek Rollins, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds for Millard North. The game was Rollins' third in a row with at least ten points. Amari Rahaman was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight assists and five steals.

Burke's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Millard North, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Burke will be playing at home against Elkhorn South at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Elkhorn South knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Burke likes a good challenge. As for Millard North, they will venture away from home to face off against Omaha Westside at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
