Baseball Recap: Goddard Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Goddard won the last time they faced Lovington and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Wildcats. With that victory, the Rockets brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Cameron Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Goddard is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9 otherwise. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Goddard got a massive performance out of Brady Duer, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. Duer has become a key player for the Rockets: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Cohdy Seely also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Goddard lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Goddard's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Lovington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.

Goddard will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
