Baseball Recap: Black River Pirates vs. Tuslaw Mustangs
Black River extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-11 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tuslaw Mustangs. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.
As for Tuslaw, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
For Tuslaw's part, Andrew Shackle tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keenan Kinsey, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Black River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tuslaw, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-1 defeat against Norwayne on the 28th.
