Preview: El Dorado Wildcats vs. Clearwater Indians
El Dorado is 7-2 against Clearwater since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The El Dorado Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Clearwater Indians at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in El Dorado's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
El Dorado pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-60 to Wellington. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (58), El Dorado still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, El Dorado got some senior leadership from Logan Garner and Chase Lesh. Garner scored 26 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Lesh. scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 43.3% of El Dorado's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zac Jacobs, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Clearwater's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Andale at home and fell 70-39. While losing is never fun, Clearwater can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Andale is ranked 68th).
El Dorado's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-14. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Clearwater, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
El Dorado came up short against Clearwater in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 55-50. Will El Dorado have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
