Baseball Recap: Bucksport Has No Trouble Against Searsport

Bucksport got themselves on the board against Searsport on Friday, but Searsport never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Bucks in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won nine in a row.

Trent Goss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Goss was also big at the plate, earning three runs and five stolen bases. He has become a key player for Bucksport: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bo Provencher, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Jason Terrill also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Searsport, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bucksport will head out to challenge George Stevens Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.13 runs per game on average), something the Golden Bucks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Searsport, they will take on Lee Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
