Niles West faced Downers Grove North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wolves fell 2-0 to the Trojans. The Wolves' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Niles West had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Ethan Weiner, who had 18 assists and four digs. Gino Andreatta also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.

Niles West's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Downers Grove North, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Coincidentally, Niles West and Downers Grove North will both be playing Willowbrook the next time they take the court. The Trojans will host the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Wolves will play them later in the day, at 8:00 p.m.
