Football Recap: Northwest Christian Crusaders vs. Peoria Panthers
Northwest Christian had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-4 to make it five. They fell 21-16 to the Peoria Panthers. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Beckman, who picked up 98 receiving yards and one TD.
As for Peoria, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games.
Peoria found their leader in sophomore Cristian Zarate, who rushed for 111 yards and one score. The Panthers also got a significant boost from Javon Bell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 112 yards.
Northwest Christian has already played their next game, a 42-21 win against Paradise Honors on the 30th. As for Peoria, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 58-26 victory against Thunderbird on the 31st.
