Basketball Recap: Social Circle Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Social Circle Redskins opened the new year with a less-than-successful 62-51 loss to the Brookwood Broncos.

Despite the defeat, Social Circle saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leson Nelson almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. Braylon Dennis was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Social Circle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Social Circle now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Brookwood, their record is now 4-11.

Social Circle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-43 loss against Parkview on the 4th. As for Brookwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-42 victory against Shiloh on the 4th.
