Recap: Pensacola Tigers vs. Booker T. Washington Wildcats
The Pensacola Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to Booker T. Washington. While losing is never fun, Pensacola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Booker T. Washington is ranked 136th).
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nick Jones, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Steele, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Pensacola's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Booker T. Washington, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-6.
Pensacola will be playing at home against Navarre at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Navarre knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Pensacola likes a good challenge. As for Booker T. Washington, they will head out on the road to square off against Choctawhatchee at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
