John De La Garza turned in yet another pitching appearance with more than six strikeouts on Friday. He struck out 15 batters over six innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He is becoming a predictor of Avalon's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 7-8-1 when he doesn't).

De La Garza's strong effort led Avalon over Miller Grove and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
