Football Recap: Huntington Comes Up Short on the Road Against West Monroe

Huntington had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the West Monroe Rebels on Thursday, falling 41-18. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rebels from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Huntington's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Justin Whitaker, who threw for 245 yards and three TDs, and Adrian Johnson, who picked up 122 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 82 yards.

Huntington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caiden Starks and Marquice Scroggins.

The win got West Monroe back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Huntington will challenge Captain Shreve at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for West Monroe, they will take on Pulaski Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
