Softball Game Preview: Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers vs. Mountain Island Charter Raptors

The Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Mountain Island Charter Raptors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Legion Collegiate Academy nor Mountain Island Charter posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Wednesday, Legion Collegiate Academy came up short against Marvin Ridge and fell 4-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Mavericks: they've now lost four in a row.

Amelia Mason was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Mason was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Mason wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Macie Tillman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mountain Island Charter came up short against Charlotte Latin on Thursday, falling 14-2.

Bella Bergman was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another was Harleigh Reece, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Mountain Island Charter's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.
