Softball Recap: Walton-Verona Takes a Loss

If Walton-Verona was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Villa Madonna last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Walton-Verona came up short against the Grant County Braves on Thursday, falling 9-3. The loss continues a trend for the Bearcats in their meetings with the Braves: they've now lost four in a row.

Ava Donato made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Jennifer Alexander also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Walton-Verona's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Grant County, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walton-Verona will venture away from home to challenge Collins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grant County, they will head out to take on Cooper at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
