Baseball Recap: Bayfield Comes Up Short

Bayfield extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-12. They came up short against the San Juan Broncos, falling 18-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 13-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Tavian Box made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Bayfield is 4-2 when Box posts three or more RBI, but 2-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Tischer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

As for San Juan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

On San Juan's side, Kreed Herring made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Herring was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

Bayfield is taking a road trip to take on Ignacio at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Juan, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Grand County at 3:30 p.m. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.11 runs per game on average), something the Broncos will no doubt try to take advantage of.
