Basketball Recap: West Jones Comes Up Short

West Jones managed to slip by Laurel the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs were beaten by the Golden Tornadoes 61-19 on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Mustangs' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Laurel had a senior duo take command as Kayllis Walker dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards and Karly Hunter went 8-for-12 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunter has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zy Evans, who posted eight points and four blocks.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Jones fell to 3-1. As for Laurel, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

West Jones will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Jones at 6:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Laurel, they will be playing at home against Biloxi at 3:00 p.m. on the 29th.
