Baseball Recap: McCutcheon Comes Up Short

McCutcheon was the 7-2 winner over Western when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7 on Saturday. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jake Winger was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

McCutcheon's loss dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for Western, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1.

McCutcheon and Western should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Mavericks (ranked 40th) will meet Lafayette Jefferson (ranked 138th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Western will take on Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (13 vs. 84).
