Basketball Recap: Gregreyauna Griffin Key Part of a Team Effort in Seahawks Win

Franklin County won the last time they faced Jefferson County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Franklin County Seahawks took down the Jefferson County Tigers 45-30. The Seahawks pushed the score to 34-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gregreyauna Griffin, who posted 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sa?Ryiah McNair, who put up 15 points.

Jefferson County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haley Schmigel, who had seven points in addition to five boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Tniah Dunlap, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Franklin County and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Jefferson County, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin County will challenge St. John Paul II at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Jefferson County, they and Taylor County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
