Softball Recap: Hobbs Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Carlsbad

Hobbs faced Carlsbad in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Eagles came up short against the Cavemen/Cavegirls, falling 9-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hobbs saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Zambrano, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Hobbs' defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Carlsbad, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carlsbad beat Hobbs by a score of 10-5 later that day.
