On Thursday, First Baptist Academy was fully in charge, breezing past Oasis 64-33. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Bishop Verot had just enough and edged Community School of Naples out 44-41 on Tuesday. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Seahawks are ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Verot had a senior duo take command as Gavin Williams went 7 of 10 en route to 24 points and four steals and Jerry Ashley posted eight points in addition to 11 rebounds and four blocks. Ashley has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last seven times he's played.

Bishop Verot's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for First Baptist Academy, their win bumped their record up to 21-1.

First Baptist Academy came up short against Bishop Verot in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 49-41. Can First Baptist Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
