Football Recap: Union County Comes Up Short at Home Against Newberry

Union County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Newberry Bulldogs on Friday, falling 62-14. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, Union County still got an impressive performance from Akeem Shaw`, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one TD. Shaw` showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 52 yards. Noah Tucker got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Union County is taking a road trip to face off against Fairfield Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Newberry, they will take on Mid-Carolina at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
