Suggested Video

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Santa Ynez had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 win over the Arvin Bears. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Pirates were the (much) better team in the second half.

Jude Pritchard had an outrageously good game as he threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown. A healthy portion of Pritchard's aerial production (133 yards to be exact) went to Luke Gianis.

Santa Ynez's defense stepped up as well, laying out Andrew Rosales. six times. Arvin's QB won't forget Jaxon Glover anytime soon given he sacked him four times.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xzavier Brooks, who picked up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Rosales, who threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes.

Santa Ynez's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Arvin, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Santa Ynez didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-7 loss against Bishop Union on the 15th. Arvin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
