Soccer Game Preview: Steward vs. Saint Gertrude

The Steward Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Saint Gertrude Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Steward is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Everything went their way against Norfolk Christian on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 win. The score was close at halftime, but Steward pulled away in the second half with two goals.

Hanna Qureshi and Mila Rene scored all three of Steward's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Saint Gertrude and Veritas School finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Steward's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7-2. Saint Gertrude's draw makes their record 7-2-3 this season.

Steward took their win against Saint Gertrude in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 4-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
