Baseball Recap: Orangewood Christian Find Success

Orangewood Christian won the last time they faced Father Lopez and things went their way on Monday too. Orangewood Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Father Lopez, sneaking past 6-4.

Aiden Balls made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Orangewood Christian is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Balls was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Lambert, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Orangewood Christian's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Austin Wendorf was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Orangewood Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. Father Lopez is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Orangewood Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-3 win against Trinity Christian Academy on the 18th. As for Father Lopez, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Bishop Snyder on the 21st.
