Baseball Recap: Mcconnellsburg Wins Going Away Against Grace Academy

The McConnellsburg Spartans made easy work of the Grace Academy Knights on Friday and carried off a 16-2 victory.

Hoyt Glenn and Kohen Hall made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Glenn tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hall didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Glenn scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hall scored a run while going 2-for-4. Glenn is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Ben Sattazahn was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Shafer Earley, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

McConnellsburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

The win got McConnellsburg back to even at 2-2. As for Grace Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, McConnellsburg will look to defend their home field on Monday against Hancock at 6:00 p.m. As for Grace Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against St. John's Catholic Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
