Baseball Recap: Lyford Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lyford entered their tilt with Raymondville on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Bearkats. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Diego Medina was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Josiah Palmer was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Lyford's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Raymondville, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-8.

Coincidentally, Lyford and Raymondville will both be playing Rio Hondo the next time they take the field. Raymondville will head out to face Rio Hondo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Lyford will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
