Basketball Recap: Greyhills Academy Takes a Loss

Greyhills Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 84-26 loss at the hands of the San Carlos Braves. The Knights lost against the Braves in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 99-15 score last time.

San Carlos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leandro Simbolo, who posted 12 points. Simbolo has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played. Demyen Andrews was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 13 points and four steals.

Greyhills Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for San Carlos, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Greyhills Academy and Rock Point will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Carlos, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 91-27 win against Superior on the 14th.
