Basketball Recap: Sanford Extends Winning Streak to Eight

On Thursday, Sanford faced Howard in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Sanford Warriors walked away with a 62-54 win over the Howard Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

It was another big night for Jayden Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Khareem Hart was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Sanford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Howard still got an impressive performance from Nick Baysah, who went 8 of 14 en route to 21 points.

Sanford pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points over those games. As for Howard, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 11-3.

Coincidentally, Sanford and Howard will both be playing Salesianum the next time they take the court. Sanford will host Salesianum at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Howard will host them at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
