Softball Recap: Hickory Ridge's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Hickory Ridge dropped their record down to 19-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Lake Norman Wildcats by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent loss being a 16-15 defeat last Tuesday.

Embler Kristyn was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Kristyn wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Katherine Rhyne, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Lake Norman, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Lake Norman's side, the team relied heavily on Avery Evans, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Billard, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Hickory Ridge nor Lake Norman have any future games scheduled.
